Slumgullion Recipe

Ground beef, pasta, and tomato have a terrific flavor and cook quickly.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 (4.5 ounce) cans mushrooms, drained
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 large onion, chopped

Directions:

  1. A big saucepan of lightly salted water should be brought to a boil. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente, then drain and transfer to a large pot.
  2. Meanwhile, brown the beef in a large skillet over medium heat; add the onion just before the steak is done browning.
  3. Stir in the meat mixture, tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic, salt, and pepper, as well as the stewed tomatoes, to the pasta. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes over low heat, or until well cooked.
