Special Butterscotch Chip Cookies in a Jar Recipe
This is a cookie mix with a tag attached that contains instructions for preparing the mix and baking the cookies. The jar is appealing enough to display on a baker's rack until it is ready to be used, thanks to the use of seasonal fabric or a specific kitchen décor color scheme for the cloth topping.

Ingredients:
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 ⅛ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup white sugar
- ¾ cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup high protein crisp rice and wheat cereal
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Directions:
- In a one-quart wide-mouth canning jar, layer the ingredients in the order listed. Position each ingredient firmly in its place. All of the ingredients will fit in the jar, but it will be a tight fit. Cut an 8 or 9-inch circle from gingham, calico, or a seasonal fabric with pinking shears. Attach a card with the following mixing and baking instructions to the ribbon or raffia:
- Fill a large mixing bowl halfway with cookie mix. Combine 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together with your hands. Roll into large walnut-sized balls once completely combined. Flatten each cookie ball with the palm of your hand on prepped cookie sheets. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 8-10 minutes.
