Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons kirsch (cherry brandy)
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 ½ tablespoons potato flour
- 1 pound Swiss cheese, diced
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (1 pound) loaf French or Italian bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1 clove garlic
Directions:
- A garlic clove should be rubbed into the fondue pot (or a casserole/chafing dish). If you're using a chafing dish, only add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan to protect it.
- Set aside the diced cheese that has been dredged in potato flour.
- Fill the dish with wine and heat it. When the wine has warmed up, add the cheese that has been coated. Bring to a moderate simmer, stirring constantly with a wire whisk until the cheese has melted and the wine has been properly mixed. Season with salt and pepper, as well as grated nutmeg. Whisk in the kirsch when ready to serve. Serve with bread cubes as a side dish.
