Grandma's Chew Bread Recipe

Grandma's Chew Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit ( 200 degrees C ). A 15x10x1 inch jellyroll pan should be greased.
  2. Combine the sugar and eggs in a heavy pot. Cook, stirring regularly, until the sugar has dissolved over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, vanilla, and pecans after removing the pan from the heat.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven after spooning the mixture into the prepared baking tray. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
