Sweet and Sour Smoked Sausage Recipe
This recipe was prepared by my brother when he first married. It's a personal favorite of mine. Corn, mashed potatoes, and croissant rolls are some of my favorite accompaniments. Sweet and sour sauce can be found in the Asian cuisine area of your local supermarket.

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons sweet and sour sauce
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to taste
- 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced into long strips
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced into long strips
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 ½ pounds smoked sausage, sliced
Directions:
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, place the sliced sausage. Cook, rotating frequently, for 5 to 10 minutes, or until thoroughly browned. Remove the excess fat from the sausage and set it aside.
- Combine the green bell pepper, red bell pepper, onion, butter or margarine, and sauté for 10 minutes over medium heat, or until all veggies are soft. Stir in the sausage until everything is nicely combined. To taste, season with salt and pepper.
- The sweet and sour sauce, cayenne pepper, and hot pepper sauce are then added. Reduce to a low heat and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes, to enable all of the flavors to mix.
